Round Top Music Festival (June 8 – July 13)

The 43rd Round Top Music Festival presents more than 35 public events (Orchestral and chamber music concerts, master classes, children concert.) Distinguished faculty mentor young artists from all over the world. The Texas Festival Orchestra, conducted by Perry So, Heiichiro Ohyama, Christoph Campestrini, Edwin Outwater, Michael Stern, Pascal VerrotEmilio Colon and Erik Ochsner will perform some rarities like Prokofiev’s Chout, Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 7 and Francis Poulenc’s Concert Champetre in the unique Festival Concert Hall. Soloists include pianist James Dick, harpsichordist Matthew Dirst, flutist Carol Wincenc, violinist Jonathan Swartz, oboist Erin Hannigan, clarinetist Kenneth Grant, bassoonist Benjamin Kamins and horn Michelle Baker among others. The festival celebrates anniversaries of Richard Wagner (b. 1813), Giuseppe Verdi (b. 1813), Francis Poulenc (d.1963), Benjamin Britten (b. 1913), Paul Hindemith (d.1963) and Sergei Prokofiev (d.1953.)
